User Guide
A reliable, easy to read aviation stopwatch which works equally well in portrait or landscape mode - to suit different cockpit layouts.
Runs in any modern browser on any device. Browse to https://redstone-websites.com/stopwatch on your device.
Runs best in "full screen" mode on a smartphone,
so after the initial browse to the site, remember to "Add to Home Screen" or its equivalent on your device. You'll only need to
do this once. Version upgrades will take place automatically. For the GPS functions you will need to allow
Geolocation permissions on your device.
It is recommended to set your device's
screen to remain on for the duration of your flight.
The Stopwatch and GPS functons work offline though a network is required for weather reporting.
- When online, weather data is refreshed from the East Fortune weather station once a minute.
- If the weather background is amber then there is no network connection. Once internet connection is restored the weather data will automatically refresh and
the background colour will revert to normal to indicate this.
- If the weather background is red, this means it is displaying old data, probably due to a problem with the weather station, and should not be relied upon. The small time
displayed in the weather section is the weather data timestamp.
- Start, Stop and Reset control the stopwatch and it can also be quickly started and stopped by tapping the stopwatch numbers themselves.
- Tapping on the Local Time/Zulu Time toggles which time is displayed more prominently.
- Tapping
toggles between single and double stopwatch mode.
- Tapping
toggles between "Instruments" and "Notes" mode.
- Tapping on the GPS section toggles Ground Speed between mph and kts.
- The GPS section shows Track, Ground Speed and distance and direction from (not vector to) East Fortune.
- Tapping Weather section toggles between QFE/Temperature and runway crosswind calculations.
- In "Notes" mode tapping on
enters "Notes Edit" mode.
All settings, notes and timers are preserved between sessions. The stopwatch will continue running in the background even if the
webapp is closed down or even if the device is powered off and restarted.
